Sunbrella was awarded this honor for its UV A&B-resistant awning fabrics
by The Skin Cancer Foundation, an international organization dedicated to the prevention of skin cancer. The Seal signifies
that the 100% acrylic Sunbrella fabrics
have passed the Foundation's rigorous testing criteria and offer significant levels of sun protection. To date, this seal
has been awarded to just 310 products in the United States.
This Seal of Recommendation is an important endorsement since
many consumers are concerned not only with having comfort when purchasing an awning but with increasing safety
from the sun as well.
Indeed, according to The Skin Cancer Foundation, one in five Americans will get skin cancer in the course
of a lifetime. By 2020, melanoma (the deadliest form of skin cancer) is projected to occur in one in 45 Americans.
